Nikki Sedacca Gallery is proud to open for the 2019 season in Edgartown on Thursday, May 23. Located at 17 Winter St, the intimate gallery sits in the heart of Nevin Square and will be open in May and June Sunday – Thursday from 10AM to 7PM and Friday – Saturday from 10AM-9PM. Every summer has a story. This year, the gallery expresses the romance of island lifestyle through a timeless selection of contemporary art and jewels. Anita Lewis joins the roster of artists with her abstract oil paintings featuring dimensional texture and sophisticated color. Returning to the gallery, Linda Richichi and Kathe Fraga’s paintings encapsulate the essence of how it feels to stroll through the nostalgic streets and become entranced by the island’s natural magic. Nikki Sedacca, designer on the vineyard for over 25 years, introduces her new collection featuring pieces made from sculptural twists and turns of sterling silver and 18kt gold wire with pops of sparkle from gleaming diamonds.
Anita Lewis’ abstract oil paintings reflect an admiration for her international heritage and love of modern design with natural influences. After successfully practicing high-end modern interior design in Augsburn, Germany and exhibiting her art, Antia returned to the states. She used her eye for design to launch into a vibrant art career. Anita says, “coming from the modern interior design and architectural field, my art is created to add and support architectural power using larger scale. Modern European and Zen influences, intertwined with natural themes, works develop with textural nuances, derived from many layers, evoking a sense of detail in the obscure of fading in and out of undulating hues.”
Kathe Fraga creates mixed media paintings that are inspired by the romance of vintage Chinoiserie and layered with pattern, botanicals, color and hidden motifs. Fraga says, “We live in a 110-year-old Bainbridge Island home built with barnacled beach rock and weathered grey shingles. The old floorboards of our home, milled from the surrounding trees, remind me on a daily basis of the love and gentle patina of time. With their decay and rebirth, they send their message to my art as I explore how the fresh beauty of the “new” evolves, over time, into something far more interesting and dramatic.” It is that kindred island spirit that translates in her paintings, from across the United States and ferry, to the Vineyard’s treasured ambiance.
Linda Richichi is best known for her vibrantly colored “plein air” pastel and oil paintings with layers of texture from loose brushstrokes. After graduating in 1994 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art from SUNY, Richichi received a scholarship from the Pastel Society of America to attend the Art Students League in New York City. Linda quickly found national acclaim as a portrait painter, but in 2001 she felt a calling for the wild. She turned to Plein Air painting, as she found that Mother Nature was the healing energy she need to recover from deeply resonating personal loss. Linda enjoys taking trips to Martha’s Vineyard to paint and gain inspiration for new work.
Nikki Sedacca has perfected the art of turning wire into wearable works of art- from classical to cutting edge, pre-Columbian to Asian, her signature wirework captures “The Art of Jewelry.” One-of-a-kind designs inspired by the shapes, textures, colors and beauty of the world around her are interwoven with exotic pearls, precious gems, including diamonds, and unusual semi-precious stones in 14k or 18k gold, sterling silver or platinum in gleaming, hand-crafted creations.
With lifelong experience in fashion and jewelry design, Nikki presents her newest “Endless Love Collection.” Blurring the lines between art and jewelry, the collection is comprised of bracelets, ring, pendants, and collars that are wearable sculpture and can be enjoyed and collected by the wearer for years to come.
This and more will be coming to Nikki Sedacca Gallery for a season full unusual art and jewels. Visit www.nikkisedaccagallery.com to learn more and find the gallery on social media @nikkisedaccagallery.
